The records relate to the inquiry work of the Select Committee on the circumstances leading to the problems surrounding the commencement of the operation of the new Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok. They include setting up the Select Committee, meeting arrangements, agenda and minutes, correspondence with the Administration and consultants, submissions and witnesses, transcriptions and preparation and drafting of the Select Committee's report.
Among the types of documents contained in the records are: memoranda, letters, agenda and minutes of meetings, verbatim transcripts, press cuttings, and reports.
Included also are print-outs of certain company records from 1975 to 1993, evidence and information provided to the Select Committee, a set of written evidence and related information for the use of the clerk at hearings, reports of the investigation into the commissioning and operation of the new Airport by the Ombudsman, and the report with near-verbatim notes of the Commission of Inquiry on the New Airport appointed by the Chief Executive-in-Council.
