Scope and Content

The records comprising this series relate to the select committees on:
a. problems involved in the prosecution and trial of complex commercial crimes (1985-1986);
b. future of the Hong Kong War Memorial Fund (1985-1986); and
c. Legislative Council elections (1992).
This series also includes verbatim transcripts of the enquiry by the Panel on Security into the termination of employment of Mr Alex TSUI Ka-kit, Deputy Director of Operations, ICAC in 1994.
Among the types of documents contained in the records in the series are: memoranda, letters, minutes of meetings, verbatim transcripts of proceedings, submissions and representations, publications, draft speeches, reports and press cuttings.
Records relating to the following select committees are maintained in separate series:
a. Select Committee on Kwun Lung Lau Landslip and Related Issues (LAS 36);
b. Select Committee to Inquire into the Circumstances Surrounding the Departure of Mr LEUNG Ming-yin from the Government and Related Issues (LAS 49);
c. Select Committee to Inquire into the Circumstances Leading to the Problems Surrounding the Commencement of the Operation of the New Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok since 6 July 1998 and Related Issues (LAS 50);
d. Select Committee on Building Problems of Public Housing Units (LAS 51); and
e. Select Committee to Inquire into the Handling of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Outbreak by the Government and the Hospital Authority (LAS 52).
