Scope and Content

The records in this series relate to the organization and work of the Panel established by the Legislative Council relating to food safety and environmental hygiene, together with agriculture and fisheries.
The records document regular and special meetings of the Panel and joint meetings held with other Panels. The series also records informal meetings with outside bodies and official visits undertaken by Panel members.
Among the subjects covered by the records are food labelling, foot and mouth disease, hawker licences, the spread of avian flu / H5N1 virus among poultry, fixed penalties for minor public cleanliness offences, market stalls, surveillance of fish tanks for live seafood, anti-mosquito and anti-rodent campaigns, liquor licences, food research laboratory and offshore fishing.
The types of documents contained in files include agenda, minutes, memoranda, letters, information papers, publications and background papers.

The majority of records in the series are files in both hard and soft cover manila folders. Enclosures are attached using Treasury tags.
